Preparing for Number Two

video

Lupron begins on Tuesday. Starting injections feels like the official start of IVF #2 (or IVF #1, Take Two). So this will be my final reflection on IVF #1 (or the IVF that never was). It's time to get pumped for #2.

I'm having a hard time getting excited for #2. When we signed up for #1 our RE told us that we had a 65% chance for success. I have to admit that I never thought we would be in the unlucky 35%. Getting canceled wasn't even a possibility in my mind. I feel so different about #2. I feel like....well, I feel like it's going to turn into a big pile of #2. I keep thinking of all the things that could go wrong. So I am just focusing on one step at a time. Right now all of my focus is on my baseline ultrasound and getting a green light for stims.

On Valentine's Day hubby and I are going out to dinner. He made a reservation at the same restaurant as the cancelled birthday dinner which followed the cancelled IVF cycle. Going to that restaurant, enjoying a good meal and a bottle of wine, feels really good, like we are exorcising the demons of #1.

Number Two here we come.

Yeah, one step at a time is the best possible way to deal with the gunshyness that comes from getting hosed on a cycle.

If it's any comfort, I think that having a bad or cautious attitude has zero bearing on IF treatment success. Seriously. So just go forward day by day and don't sweat it if you're less than hopeful.

Enjoy the vday dinner!

May this be the last IVF for you before a pregnancy that sticks. Thinking of you. Cool that we'll be cycling around the same time!

Here's hoping this is the last time you ever have to make a video like that! (I, for one, will have to find another form of entertainment, but it will be worth it.)
Best of luck, Megan! I'm sending lots of good thoughts your way.

I've been in your shoes with two canceled cycles, and I was able to finally go through the whole process the third time. Good luck with everything, and I will be thinking of you!

Oh - and thanks so much for stopping over at my other blog. I hope to update it soon!

I know what you mean about the IVF that never was. I feel much the same way about our upcoming cycle. I'm trying to take it one step at a time, one hurdle at a time and greatly enjoying not taking meds right now. I'm working on getting a little more hope in my life and am inching my way there - sometimes it feels like just getting to the ER and transfer would be such a blessing, regardless of the outcome.

Thinking of you - have a great V-day.

When I started IVF #2 my RE said this would be the one that brought me a baby. I have stopped listening to predictions, and just keep plodding along now.

Best wishes for #2!

I am right with you trying to get revved up for IVF #2. I start on Sunday, so we'll be pretty much on schedule together. Glad you are exorcising those demons - best of luck to both of us!

OMG,you totally made my day. That movie was fun and painful at the same time. I hope that your next movie has all the elements of a sappy sitcom where everything works out in the end.

Are you sure that 65% didn't refer to your chances if you had actually completed the cycle and gone through retrieval-fertilization-transfer? That's what I would have thought those odds meant.
I'm no expert, but I'd think that with a fairly straightforward case of IF such as yours (plural yours), and given that it's male factor, that your chances are pretty good.
I'm feeling confident for you, if that helps any. I'm pretty sure that once you get through the all the stages of the cycle you'll be happy happy happy.
Good luck.
