This weekend I made my cleaning list in preparation for family Christmas at my home this year.
One good thing about having your closest family member a four hour drive away is that it is relatively easy to maintain the illusion that you are a perfect housekeeper...until they come to visit for a three day stay.
I baked Tony's favorite cake (from scratch) for his birthday.
After taking this picture Tony promptly grabbed a dinner plate and cut himself a healthy slice...
Of course Tony's birthday is also the first anniversary of our first cancelled IVF. While I have had many more disappointments since then, the first one was the worst. I couldn't get out of bed for days. I'm proud of myself for not bringing up this sad anniversary and ruining another birthday for Tony.
I finished my Christmas pillow sewing project.
If you can read that "naughty" pillow and think it's a little odd, the other side says "nice". It was a better idea in my head.
And I even finished making a Santa dummy for the Christmas decorating contest at work (don't ask).
Bo is pooped after a busy weekend of following me around...
Next up: Christmas cards, Christmas baking, and a new tote bag that I would like to try sewing.
Nothing like a busy holiday season to keep cramming those yucky and sad feelings back to places in your brain that you rarely visit.

Looks like a weekend well-spent, and yes, you should be proud of yourself for not turning his birthday into a sad occasion. It's hard NOT to keep the sad anniversaries, but I think it's important - at least to try - to ignore them if we possibly can. Eventually, maybe, if we're lucky, all those due dates and anniversaries of failure will simply blend into the background of the rest of our lives and not take over life, the way it can feel like they do. You're a strong - and smart - woman for doing what you can to make it happen as soon as you can.
And, BTW, I think the naughty/nice pillow is adorable!
CAKE! GIVE ME THAT CAKE!! oh man, its like some kind of chocolate cake torture!
glad things are busy but manageable. I am amazed at your productivity.

That cake looks sooo good! And Bo is the cutest. dog. ever. Glad the holidays are keeping you busy.
Your a busy girl! Great job on the pillows! Happy Birthday to your hubby and hugs for the sad anniversary.
Your doggie is just too cute!
oh my god you did so much this weekend... I am beyond impressed. And the pillows are beyond wonderful (again, you creative types inspire and intimidate me) and the cake looks fabtastic.
I think you deserve Monday off to rest up and go to the movies.
Phew! That looks like one heck of a cleaning list!!!
When your done with your tote, and house cleaning, feel free to stop by my house, I could use a lesson in sewing!
That Hershey's chocolate chocolate cake is also my DH's favorite! I make it every year for his bday!
Those pillows are adorable!
You've achieved more in a weekend that I have in the last, what, two / three years? Might have to have a lie down just thinking about it.
I'm doing the same thing. Keeping as busy as possible to stuff down those awful feelings. Coming to the end of the road of ART still with empty arms has been harder than I ever thought possible. So I'll keep making lists, and baking, and shopping and decorating and....your cake looks amazing!
your pillows look great!!! and your pup is sooo cute!
I love the pillows!! I wish I knew how to sew. I really like the one with the white balls on it. Great job!
I love your naughty/nice pillow!! All of them are great-I especially like that one tho!
