The Twins Are Here!!!

They arrived on Saturday (see poorly taken picture above), a little lighter than the picture I had in my mind's eye based on the swatch of fabric I chose. A sort of catch twenty-two as this is truly the color of sofas I wanted, but I chose a darker color (I thought) to be more child friendly. You can read more about my adult house in this issue of Exhale.

Now I just need a rug, coffee table, end tables, lamps, window treatments... Thus far I only have buy-in from the hubby for a rug.

These sofas are more than just furniture. They represent a fantasy. In this fantasy I no longer have to do all the driving to see my family. Instead family and friends are drawn to my house by the magnetic properties of my new baby. I will sit on these sofas visiting with family as the new baby gets passed from one person to the next. The sofa bed will be pulled out at night as everyone will want to spend the night. In the morning I will make brunch; fresh fruit, eggs, cinnamon rolls, and orange juice served in a glass pitcher rather than an unattractive cardboard container.

Of course reality will be something else entirely.

I have convinced myself that I "needed" this furniture so that my family would have a place to converse while admiring my baby, a place where all furniture was not pointed at the television. This is the "Field of Dreams" approach to conceiving a child. If you build it, he will come. The success rate of this approach is not as high, but at least you are left with something nice to look at.

The twins are beautiful! How darling are they!

I see that room with a rug with many colors in it. Lamps modern, and end tables something in cherry perhaps?

Hmm...the possibilities are endless...

I couldn't picture my family sitting on such light colored furniture across from each other. They would truly be forced to talk to each other. LOL

I feel like I just got your living room dirty, just by looking at the picture!

They ARE really nice couches. But between me, the boy, the man and the cats...they wouldnt stand a chance.

LOVE the twins. Remember your ticker you made with them, so funny. I think they are the perfect color. You can wreck any color no matter how dark, so don't worry about it. I think you have a beautiful vision, hope it all comes true so soon.

Congrats on the arrival of the twins! Such a pretty room already, even without all the planned stuff :)

We've had a sectional slightly darker than that for 8 years. We've only had 2 real mishaps - first was my SIL and niece spilling cranberry juice from a sippy cup. Fortunately it was white cranberry. Then my MIL upended a whole glass of red wine on the couch and carpet. The moral of this story? Invest in OxyClean and Spot Shot and never invite your relatives over.

The twins are lovely - and I love the hardwood floors.

OK, maybe it's bad form to mention this but my verification word is pregnan. I hope it's a sign for you.

Just don't start buying cots and baby furniture to complete your field of dreams.

I love them!

And, I love the school of thought: If you build it, he/she will come. Nice! I need to use that approach too! ;-)

What a beautiful room! And you are welcome to cook brunch for me anytime, I'd be happy to come visit and sit on those couches. My philosophy has always been the opposite - if i build it, I will jinx myself. Yours is probably healthier =)

The twins are BEAUTIFUL!!! My parents had white couches and loveseat before me (because they weren't expecting to have kids - another story). I ended up spilling koolaid on one side of a loveseat cushion and spagetti on the other. I'm sure if that were to happen - you'd be thrilled!!

I lost weight, then I got pregnant. I hope the same happens with your twins!!

Loved your post... what a great idea those beautiful twins are!

Oh... and i LOVE your art. The term "scrapbooking" does not capture it's creativity and originality.
