When I found out that my body might be attacking and killing baby embryos I was SO HAPPY.
It was just before Christmas and I felt like running down the street ala Ebenezer Scrooge, grabbing strangers, and shouting as I shook their bodies, "I have elevated Natural Killer cells! I have elevated Natural Killer cells!"
Why was I so happy? Because I thought I had found an answer. An answer to the blighted ovum. An answer to the positive pregnancy test followed by a negative pregnancy test the same day. An answer to the two perfect-on-paper embryos transferred that never stuck around in my uterus.
AND the best part...
the BEST part...
THE BEST PART...
Unlike my crappy eggs, there was a cure!
Intralipids!
BUT WAIT...there's more.
INTRALIPIDS ARE CHEAP!!!
I've since calmed down, researched, and realized that elevated natural killer cells may or may not have an impact of my infertility and intralips may or may not help correct the elevated natural killer cells that may or may not impact my fertility. I didn't know that the whole thing isn't so cut and dried as my doctor described to me.
But did I mention that intralips are cheap?
So tomorrow, on my lunch hour I will traveling to my RE's office for an IV full of hope. I'm a bit nervous for some strange reason, but I bought a new sewing book today to pass the time.

Oh hallelujah! An answer! A solution that is real and true and not going to cost an arm and a leg! So excited for you!!!
Love,
Maddy
Oh joy! Knowing what's wrong must be such a relief.
i hope that whatever is it that tiny vial hooked up to your iv makes a HUGE difference.
good luck!
We were going to do intralipids but decided against it. It is a fairly new procedure and we just couldn't swallow doing something that is considered controversial. Although it has helped MANY women acheive pregnancies. Did you go through SIRM? They are wonderful!
We decided to go the route of adoption instead for personal and religious beliefs but the intralipids were a little uneasy for us.
I have elevated NKa from Hashimotos, Endometriosis and hubby and I share 1 DQalpha.
Sucks so much to be in this group. I wish I didn't have to read that another woman has to go down this road :(
I wish you lots of luck!!
I hope that cheap IV makes all the difference. LOVED this post!
I have to give intralipis a great big WOOT to encourage them and you on. Fight those bad cells, give 'em hell!
Gimme an I ... Gimmie an N ... Gimme a T ... Gimmie an R (you get the picture). Here's hoping it's the ticket you need.
I hope that IV of hope, makes ALL the difference for you sweetie!
If you're going to take one last shot, you might as well use all the ammunition you can gather up. Hell, go out and do a fertility dance, if you think it might help! (although I think those have to be done naked in full view of the neighbors to work right)
So I'm hoping that your IV full of hope turns into a bloodstream full of welcome and a belly full of baby...
So, what are you going to sew next???
It beats 'unexplained' even if it doesn't necessarily provide a full answer.
AND, no word of a lie, my word verification is:
testub
Surely that has got to be a sign of a little test tube baby on the way ...
I hope this is the reason. Wouldn't it be nice to have a cheap and fixable reason. Those are the best kinds. :-D
So glad you got this information!
My RE is HUGE into Intralipids as well. And, even though it's controversial, he's had a lot of success with this method, and I follow the blogs of a few IFers who are now happily pregnant after such treatments.
Good luck!
Hey, at least they're not a blood product like IVIG. Here's hoping they do the trick for you!
I was almost wanting to ask my RE for them with my IVF, but ended up deciding to trust that he knew what he was doing when determining that I didn't need them despite a miscarriage and a chemical.
IT is frustrating when you do not have an answer. I always say it is so sad that I wish something to be wrong with me just so I have an answer. I hope the IV works for you!
Sewing book = good. Possible cure for IF = great. Best of luck!!!
Knowledge is good, dude. Very, very good. Blighted ovum sucks - "nature's greatest mindfuck" - and I'm sorry you had to go through that. Sounds like this current path (and perhaps even your sewing book?) might serve to clarify and bring some peace.
Hoping hard for ya!
That's great news!! I will keep you in my thoughts and prays that this is the answer...YAY!
